Life of rural punjab

It was a quite normal day for me everything was usual happening as it happens every time. Then later on that afternoon our faculty Dr.Madhumita Mukherjee mam told us that as a part of your class assessment you have to go and visit a village.
It was a good news for me as I was bored with the same schedule of our college.so after hearing from our faculty I and my friends decided to visit the village of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.

  
Bhagat Singh was born on 27 September 1907 at Banga in Lyallpur district (now Pakistan) to Kishan Singh and Vidyavati. At the time of his birth, his father Kishan Singh, uncles Ajit and Swaran Singh were in jail for demonstrations against the Colonization Bill implemented in 1906.

About village :

Khatkar Kalan is a village just outside Banga town in Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar in the Indian state of Punjab. This place is famous for the memorial of Sahid Bhagat Singh, an Indian freedom fighter, who was born in Banga Pakistan (before 1947 it was Pakistan after partition it became part of India) in 1907 and after whom the district is also named.

Attractions of the village :

Museum

The museum is located just on the side of the main road. Several photos and few personal things are displayed in the museum.The Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum opened in the village on the 50th anniversary of his death.

Ancestral House of  Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh:

The ancestral house of Shaheed Bhagat Singh is in a village just a km away from the museum. The old house and few things in the house are now well preserved. The doors are locked by glass doors and we can see the inside part through the glass.

A newly built park for visitors is also made in front of the house.

After visiting the house we all friends moved to the village Rahon.

Rahon village:

Rahon is a small Village in Khanna Tehsil in Ludhiana District of Punjab State, India. It comes under Rahon Panchayath. It is located 45 KM towards East from District head quarters Ludhiana. 10 KM from Khanna. 61 KM from State capital Chandigarh.
This Place is in the border of the Ludhiana District and Fatehgarh Sahib District. Fatehgarh Sahib District Amloh is South towards this place.

As we reached the village Rahon our friend Shubham Nayyar was waiting for us. he served us a welcome drink (Lassi), he took us to the field and gave detail information about Crops.

  

Shubham also told us that There are more than 150 temples in Rahon, Gurudwara Baba Bhai Sikh Ji, Suraj Kund, Sati Mata Bhagwan Devi Mandir are few of them, we enjoyed a lot over there had a great experience

.

Rahon has oldest Government High School in the Punjab State which was constructed in 1857. 

 

In this village, we have seen the lifestyle of the villagers living there they are doing such a hard work for their living.

  This is the machine for cutting the meal for the cattle.

They have more than 20 buffalos by this they also supply milk to the consumer and earn money.

There we had met a family came from Bihar to work in Punjab.The family included five members and they had shifted to Punjab a few days ago. 

 

After that, we met with the family of Shubham. His family was looking happy after meeting us, and his parents told us about Punjab, and its culture, history, tradition etc. 

Experience: 

It was a very nice experience of traveling to the village Rahon and meeting with the lovely people of that place.I am Blessed that our Mam Dr.Madhumita Mukhrjee gives us the assignment to visit and ensuring that by the end of this assignment we must have proper knowledge of culture & tradition of rural tourism.Talking about Khatkar Kalan village where Ancestral House of S.Bhagat Singh is located , the reason for its unpopularity is unawareness of the place, people who are travelling to Nawanshahr or Chandigarh are mostly visiting S.Bhagat Singh Museum only,they are not aware of the Ancestral House of S.Bhagat Singh because it is bit away from the main road and not highlighted so state government tourism department should focus on this thing because it's a very big thing that we have this historical  place with us and still most people are not aware of it.
